At the School for Familiars, animals prepare to become companions, or “familiars,” to witches, helping them with their magic and protecting them from evil spirit-eaters trying to steal their powers. But Snowball is a student cat with a secret: she is just a regular stray kitten and only stumbled upon the School for Familiars by accident. She doesn’t truly belong there, and might not be destined to be a familiar at all!
As one by one the other animals find their witch, Snowball can’t seem to match with anyone, and she is running out of witches. But then she meets a girl named Viola, who has never been able to successfully cast a spell. . . .
The first book in this humorous, heartwarming chapter book series introduces a magical boarding school and an overlooked cat and a hapless witch who may be destined for each other. Subsequent books in the series will feature Snowball and Viola as well as new familiar and witch pairings.
